YFSA October 4 - November 12, 2021
The Foundation Skills Assessment is an annual province-wide assessment of all B.C. students’ academic skills in grades 4 and 7, and provides parents, teachers, schools, school districts and the Ministry of Education with important information on how well students are progressing in the foundation skills of Reading, Writing, and Numeracy.
Assessment administration will run Oct. 4 - Nov. 12, 2021. Please visit the Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA) web page for the updated calendar of important FSA dates. There will be online YFSA refresher sessions daily Monday, Feb. 8 - Thursday, February 11 from 3:30pm – 4:15 pm Our meeting will be online using Zoom and you can join by clicking the link below: https://yukonedu.zoom.us/j/322695224 YFSA Collaborative MarkingGrades 3 – 8 educators interested in an opportunity to gather with colleagues from across the territory in a standards-based collaborative marking session of the YFSAs on March 29 - 31, 2021 are encouraged to sign up at YFSA Collaborative Marking Session.

The YFSA Assessment Description and Specifications, describes how reading, writing and numeracy will be assessed, and is available on the Ministry of Education Website to help educators prepare for administration this fall. The sample YFSA provides teachers and students with a preview of the sample online questions, sample student booklet and sample collaboration activity. YFSA Important Dates 2021 Feb. 8-11, 2021 Daily online after school training session for all teachers and administrators from 3:30 - 4:15 pm March 29 - 31 , 2021 Collaborative Marking April 9, 2021 Score entry deadline April, 2021 Booklets sent back to schools May, 2021 Standard setting session June, 2021 Final student results Due to the timing of the YFSA, both DART and SWW for grades 4 and 7 are now optional for schools in both the fall and the spring.
